Apple iCloud ↔ Google
Sync Apple iCloud and Google Calendar
Apple Calendar on iPhone and Mac, Google Calendar for work or studies – without syncing, your events double up. Kalender Sync keeps both in sync automatically, one- or two-way and 100% GDPR-compliant from Germany.
No credit card · set up in under 5 minutes
Many people use iCloud as their personal calendar (grown across iPhone, iPad and Mac) alongside a Google calendar for work, a club or studies. Add an event on your iPhone and it won't show up in Google – and vice versa. Apple's built-in tools offer no real fix: iCloud speaks no OAuth, and a simple subscription transfers either too much or too little.
Kalender Sync connects iCloud over CalDAV with Google over OAuth and keeps both in sync automatically. Per connection you decide whether only "busy" or more is visible – ideal for keeping private iPhone events separate from your work Google calendar without losing the overview.
How it works
In sync in 3 steps
Create an app-specific password for iCloud
In your Apple ID (appleid.apple.com → Sign-In & Security) create an app-specific password. This requires two-factor authentication on your Apple ID – Apple's security standard for CalDAV.
Connect iCloud & Google
In the Kalender Sync app, enter your Apple ID email plus the app password (CalDAV) and sign in with Google (OAuth). We verify both connections right away.
Choose direction & visibility
Decide whether it runs iCloud → Google, Google → iCloud or both ways – and how much is visible: busy only, title + time or full details. Done.
One- or two-way
You choose the direction
Set, per connection, whether it mirrors one way only (e.g. Apple iCloud → Google) or both calendars keep each other up to date (two-way sync). With two-way, a new event in Apple iCloud automatically lands in Google – and vice versa.
Privacy
You decide what's visible
Per sync you pick one of three visibility levels: busy only, title + time, or full event details. Free/Busy is just the data-minimal default, not the ceiling – ideal when your Apple iCloud and Google calendars carry different levels of confidentiality. You can even give blocked slots a custom name.
Connection & security
How Apple iCloud and Google connect
Google connects via OAuth 2.0 (a token instead of a password, calendar scopes only). Apple iCloud speaks no OAuth, so the connection runs over CalDAV with an app-specific password you generate yourself in your Apple ID – we never receive your actual Apple password, and the app password is stored encrypted (ChaCha20-Poly1305). Because it works at the iCloud level, the sync automatically covers all your Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac). Google changes arrive via push webhook within seconds; the CalDAV side (iCloud) is polled every 5 minutes. If you later revoke the app password, we pause affected sharings and email you.
GDPR
100% GDPR-compliant, hosted in Germany
Kalender Sync is run by PPJ Venture Labs UG in Munich and hosts exclusively at Hetzner in Germany – no US cloud provider, no overseas servers. For companies there's a data processing agreement (DPA under GDPR Art. 28). Unlike generic guides that copy your event details unfiltered, with us what should stay private stays private.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does this also sync my iPhone and iPad calendar?
Yes. The connection works at the iCloud level, not the device level – so everything under your Apple ID on iPhone, iPad and Mac stays in sync.
Why do I need an app-specific password?
Apple iCloud has no official OAuth interface. The secure standard path for external calendar tools is an app-specific password you create in your Apple ID. You never hand over your real Apple password, and you can revoke the app password individually at any time.
Does it sync both ways?
Yes. You can sync iCloud and Google two-way or deliberately pick a single direction – configurable per connection.
Will my employer see my private iPhone events in Google?
Only as much as you allow. By default private events show up only as "busy". Content is transferred only once you step up to "title + time" or full details.
How fast is the synchronisation?
Google reports changes via webhook within seconds. The iCloud side runs over CalDAV and is synced every 5 minutes.
What does Apple-Google syncing cost?
One synchronisation is permanently free on the Free plan. More connections and providers start at €4/month. New accounts test all Business features free for 14 days, no credit card.
