Kalender Sync vs. SyncCal – sync quota or unlimited real time?
SyncCal is one of the cheapest calendar syncs on the market – from $2.49 a month, with a solid provider base and a visible security posture. The catch is the model: synchronisations are metered. We won't make it easy on ourselves: here's an honest look at where SyncCal is strong and where Kalender Sync makes the difference.
Background
What can SyncCal do?
SyncCal (sync-cal.com) synchronises Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook/Office 365, Apple iCloud and CalDAV-compatible services in real time and advertises a setup in under five minutes. The pricing works with sync quotas: the free plan allows 2 connected calendars and 50 syncs per month, Pro ($2.49/month yearly or $2.99 monthly) raises that to unlimited calendars and 500 syncs per month, and Business ($5.99/month yearly) promises „unlimited everything" plus team management and API access. On security, SyncCal cites AES-256 encryption, TLS 1.3, OAuth 2.0 and SOC 2 compliance. According to its website, the company is based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Strengths
Where SyncCal is strong
A very low entry price
Pro from $2.49/month on yearly billing – that undercuts almost every serious sync tool, including us. If you have few events and price is your main lens, you get a lot here for very little money.
A solid provider base including CalDAV
Google, Outlook/Office 365, Apple iCloud and generic CalDAV cover the most common combinations. Smaller mail providers can be connected too, as long as they speak CalDAV.
A security posture with a SOC 2 claim
AES-256 for data at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, OAuth 2.0 instead of stored passwords and SOC 2 compliance – SyncCal visibly takes technical security seriously and communicates it transparently.
Fast setup with analytics
Setup in under five minutes, sync rules with filtering and an analytics view for your synchronisations – a tidy, pragmatic product.
Where Kalender Sync wins
Where Kalender Sync wins
Unlimited real time instead of a sync quota
50 syncs per month on the free plan, 500 on Pro – with a busy calendar where events move daily, a quota like that runs out fast. Kalender Sync synchronises without limits and in real time, on every plan. A calendar sync that counts how often it may work is empty exactly when things get hectic.
A German company, EU hosting, a DPA
Kalender Sync is run by PPJ Venture Labs UG (haftungsbeschränkt) in Munich and hosts at Hetzner in Nuremberg – GDPR- and BDSG-compliant, with a data processing agreement. SyncCal is based in Tel Aviv; Israel does hold an EU adequacy decision, but neither EU hosting nor a publicly available DPA could be found. SOC 2 is a good signal – yet for DACH companies it replaces neither a DPA nor an in-country contractual partner.
Three visibility levels per sync – with custom display names
You decide per synchronisation whether only „busy", „title + time" or full details are transferred – and set the name a blocked slot shows up as on the other side. This fine-grained control over detail depth is the core of our product, not an afterthought.
Genuine live-sharing into other calendars
SyncCal keeps your own accounts in sync. Kalender Sync can additionally embed your availability live into another person's calendar by invitation – no ICS subscription, no import. They accept once, and from then on everything stays synced automatically, as a true two-way sync.
GMX & WEB.DE connected directly
Kalender Sync is the only tool in this comparison that connects the German consumer providers GMX and WEB.DE – on top of Google, Outlook/M365, Apple iCloud, Infomaniak kSuite, CalDAV and iCal feeds. Your private German mail calendar runs in a controlled way next to your work calendar.
A free plan without a meter, a Business trial without a credit card
One synchronisation is permanently free with Kalender Sync – with full, unlimited synchronisation instead of a 50-sync quota. Basic costs €4/month, Business €10/month, and all Business features can be tested for 14 days without a credit card.
Decision guide
When should you pick which?
SyncCal is the right choice if:
- Price is your most important criterion and $2.49/month tips the scales.
- Your calendar is quiet and a monthly sync quota will never catch up with you.
- SOC 2 compliance matters more to you than an EU contractual partner with a DPA.
- You only need the big providers plus CalDAV.
Kalender Sync is the right choice if:
- You want unlimited real-time synchronisation – with no meter running along.
- You need a German contractual partner with a DPA, GDPR/BDSG compliance and hosting at Hetzner in Nuremberg.
- You want to choose per sync between „busy only", „title + time" and full details.
- You want to share your availability live into other people's calendars – not just sync your own accounts.
- You want the broadest provider coverage in this comparison: 9 provider types – Google, Microsoft Outlook/M365, Apple iCloud, GMX, WEB.DE, mailbox.org, Infomaniak kSuite, CalDAV and iCal feeds. Kalender Sync is the only tool in this comparison that connects the German providers GMX & WEB.DE.
