Amie is a design-obsessed productivity app by Berlin-based Amie GmbH that unites Google and Apple calendars – and, according to its own website, Outlook accounts –, todo lists and meeting notes in one interface. The product direction is notable: Amie now markets itself prominently on its own website as an "AI Note Taker" – meetings are recorded locally without a bot, summarised and made searchable; calendar and todos run underneath. Pricing sits at $25/month for Pro ($20/month billed annually) and $50/month for Business ($40 annually), with a 7-day trial; there is also a free plan that caps AI meeting notes at one-time credits. The key point for this comparison: Amie overlays your calendars inside the app, but doesn't copy events between providers.

Where Amie is strong

Design and delight: Amie is among the most beautiful calendar apps, full stop – fluid animations, thoughtful details, calendar and todos merging into one day plan. If you like living your week in a single gorgeous interface, you'll be happy here.
AI meeting notes without a bot: Meetings are recorded locally on your device – no bot joins the call. Afterwards you automatically get a summary and action items, plus chat with your own notes. As an AI notetaker, Amie is to be taken seriously.
Calendar + todos + notes in one: One tool instead of three: events, tasks and meeting knowledge live in the same place. For solo users who hate context switching, that's the real appeal.

An overlay is not a sync

Amie stacks your calendars on top of each other – inside the app. Nothing changes in the accounts themselves: your private Apple event still doesn't exist for your company's Google calendar. Kalender Sync genuinely writes events as "Busy" into the other providers. Colleagues, free/busy lookups and booking tools then see the full truth – without your app being involved at all.

Amie is visibly evolving towards an AI notetaker – its own website now leads with that positioning. Perfectly legitimate, but it means: calendar is a building block there, not the mission. Kalender Sync does exactly one thing, permanently and with focus: synchronising calendars, GDPR-compliant.

Kalender Sync is GDPR- and BDSG-compliant, hosts at Hetzner in Nuremberg and offers a DPA with a German contractual partner – included on every plan for business use. To be fair: Amie (Amie GmbH, Berlin) also states that data is stored and/or processed in Germany, but at the same time names US service providers such as Segment, Mailchimp, Intercom and Stripe and doesn't link a DPA – exactly where compliance teams start asking questions.
A permanently free start – and cheaper

Amie's paid plans start at $25/month; the free plan caps AI notes at one-time credits. With Kalender Sync, one sharing is permanently included in the Free plan – no trial expiry, no credit card; syncing your own calendars starts on Basic. Basic costs €5/month, Professional €12/month – including a 7-day Professional trial.

When should you pick which?

Amie is the right choice if:

You want a beautiful all-in-one app for calendar, todos and meeting notes.
AI meeting summaries without a bot are your actual reason to buy.
Your calendar world lives in Google, Apple or Outlook and a combined view inside the app is enough for you.
An AI-notetaker focus matters more to you than pure calendar sync – and paid plans from $25/month are no obstacle.
