AddEvent alternative: subscribe calendars without trackers, hosted in Germany
AddEvent does a lot more than we do: single-event buttons, RSVP forms, embedded calendar views and many integrations. If what you mainly need is a calendar that people subscribe to in Apple, Google or Outlook, Kalender Sync Subscribe Calendars are often enough. No trackers, from €5 a month, hosted in Germany. Here is who does what better.
Background
What does AddEvent do?
AddEvent is a calendar marketing platform run by AddEvent Inc., headquartered in San Francisco. According to its website its add-to-calendar button has been in use since 2012, and AddEvent cites more than 400,000 companies as customers. It covers add-to-calendar buttons and links for single events, landing pages for events and calendars, RSVP forms, subscription calendars, embeddable calendars and event lists, analytics, an API and integrations such as Zapier and Mailchimp. Per its security page, customer data is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the EU (Ireland) region; AddEvent holds a SOC 2 Type II report and offers a DPA.
Pricing per addevent.com/pricing: Hobby is free for personal, non-commercial use (1 calendar, 20 subscribers), Small Business is $29 a month billed annually or $36 monthly (10 calendars, 1,000 subscribers), Professional $99 or $129 (50 calendars, 5,000 subscribers), Enterprise on request.
Worth knowing: with AddEvent too, changes reach subscribers when their calendar app fetches the calendar. AddEvent's own help center gives roughly 8 to 9 hours for Google Calendar and 1 to 3 hours for Apple Calendar and Outlook desktop. Kalender Sync Subscribe Calendars work the same way, because both services deliver a calendar feed.

Where AddEvent is strong
- Manage events without code
- In AddEvent you create calendars and events in the dashboard or import them from Google or Outlook. With Kalender Sync Subscribe Calendars, events arrive through the Publisher API: from your plugin, your software or an AI agent. We have no form for typing in single events.
- Single events, landing pages and RSVP
- AddEvent creates an add-to-calendar button, email links, a landing page, a QR code and optionally an RSVP form with reminder emails for every single event. We only offer subscriptions to a whole calendar: no single-event pages, no registrations.
- Embedded calendar view
- From Small Business, AddEvent embeds a full calendar view or an event list in your website, styled through templates. Kalender Sync gives you an embeddable subscribe button; the events are shown on the hosted subscribe page, not on your website.
- Integrations, analytics and track record
- AddEvent connects Zapier (more than 6,000 apps by its own count), Mailchimp and apps for WordPress, Wix and Webflow, can send Google Analytics 4 events and can optionally collect and export subscriber names and email addresses. Add a free plan for personal use, Yahoo Calendar as a target and a SOC 2 Type II report.
Where Kalender Sync Subscribe Calendars win
Tap a point to see the reasoning.
-
No trackers on the subscribe page and button
The subscribe page and button load only from our own domain, set no cookies and need no cookie banner. We do not store who subscribes: no IP address, no user agent. Per its own help page, AddEvent collects geolocation data from visitors of its landing pages, widgets and buttons (anonymized automatically in the EEA) and supports Google Analytics 4 on those pages.
-
German company, hosted in Germany
AddEvent is a US company from San Francisco and hosts customer data on AWS in Ireland. Kalender Sync is a German company hosting with Hetzner in Germany, with no US cloud involved. Event content is stored encrypted in the database. Both offer a DPA.
-
Cheaper start for one calendar
Kalender Sync Basic is €5 a month (€50 a year) and includes one live calendar with up to 500 active subscribers. Professional is €12 a month and includes 10 live calendars with up to 5,000 active subscribers. AddEvent's commercial plans start at $29 a month billed annually or $36 monthly.
-
Try the API on a free account
The Publisher API is available as a sandbox on the Free plan: up to 3 test calendars, no credit card. AddEvent includes API access from Small Business. Our API is described publicly as OpenAPI 3.1, upserts events by your own ID (for example a WordPress post ID), supports batches of up to 100 operations and a full sync that cleans up orphans.
-
Two-line button, analytics under your consent
The button is one div and one script tag. It renders in a Shadow DOM, so your site's CSS cannot break it. Every click fires a ks:subscribe event with the calendar and the chosen app, so you can wire up your own analytics on your own site under your own consent, instead of a third party counting along.
-
Subscribe page with sharing and QR code
Every calendar gets a hosted subscribe page with logo, banner, organizer and upcoming events. The menu leads straight to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Outlook.com and Outlook desktop; any other app gets the feed link to copy. Sharing works via social links, a QR code or the device's share menu.
-
Limit reached, calendar keeps running
If a calendar reaches your plan's subscriber limit, we switch nothing off. You get an email and a note in the stats and decide on an upgrade yourself. A subscription counts as active when its calendar app fetched the feed in the last 14 days.
-
One account for subscribe calendars and calendar sync
With the same account you sync your own calendars across Google, Outlook, iCloud and other providers, or share your availability. AddEvent focuses on publishing events; its feature overview lists no syncing of your personal calendars with each other.
