Clockwise alternative
Clockwise is gone – now what?
On March 27, 2026, Clockwise was shut down following the Salesforce acquihire – user data was deleted, and there is no successor product. Here's a factual look at what happened, what Clockwise did well, and which part of it lives on at Kalender Sync: the calendar sync. And we'll say honestly when you're better off elsewhere.
Background
What happened to Clockwise?
Clockwise was one of the best-known AI calendar optimizers: it automatically created focus-time blocks, moved flexible meetings and offered scheduling links – built on Google Calendar, later also Microsoft Outlook. In March 2026, Salesforce hired the team behind Clockwise (an acquihire into its Agentforce division – the product was not acquired). The consequence came fast: on March 27, 2026, Clockwise was shut down completely. According to its own announcement, all user data was deleted shortly afterwards, no data was transferred to Salesforce, and prepaid subscriptions were refunded on a prorated basis. Clockwise itself recommended Reclaim.ai as the official migration partner, including price matching for switching customers. Roughly ten years of product and about $76M in funding ended with around one week between announcement and shutdown.
Strengths
What Clockwise did well
Pioneering AI focus time
Clockwise defined the focus-time category: its AI automatically created contiguous deep-work blocks of two hours and more and defended them against meeting requests. Many teams got structured, uninterrupted time for the first time this way.
Flexible Meetings & team optimization
Meetings marked as „flexible" were automatically rescheduled to maximize focus time across the whole team – an organization-wide calendar optimization approach that hardly any other tool executed as consistently.
Scheduling links and the Prism AI assistant
Personal and team booking links were part of the package, joined in 2024 by the AI scheduling assistant Prism. Clockwise was a polished, well-built product – the problem was never quality, it was the exit-driven ending.
Free personal-to-work sync
Even on the free plan, Clockwise could sync your personal calendar into your work calendar so private events blocked time as busy. That's exactly the piece most ex-users miss today – and exactly what our core product does.
Where Kalender Sync wins
What ex-Clockwise users get with Kalender Sync
The sync part of Clockwise – as the core product
Clockwise synced personal and work calendars on the side. Kalender Sync does exactly that as its main job: genuine two-way sync in both directions, in real time, across all connected accounts – no more double bookings, no matter which calendar an event lands in.
Three visibility levels per sync – you decide
Per synchronisation you choose what arrives on the other side: „Busy" only, „Title + time" or full details – plus custom display names for blocked slots (e.g. „Private"). Data-minimal by default, full transparency as an option.
Live-sharing into other people's calendars
Beyond what Clockwise offered: Kalender Sync embeds your availability into another person's calendar by invitation – as real events, not a fragile ICS subscription. Assistants, long-term clients or office setups see your availability directly in their own calendar.
9 provider types instead of Google + Outlook beta
Clockwise was built on Google Calendar; Outlook arrived late and stayed in beta. Kalender Sync connects 9 provider types: Google, Microsoft Outlook/M365, Apple iCloud, GMX, WEB.DE, mailbox.org, Infomaniak kSuite, CalDAV and iCal feeds – the only tool in this comparison that includes the German providers GMX & WEB.DE.
GDPR, BDSG and a DPA instead of US cloud
Kalender Sync is built in Munich and hosted at Hetzner in Nuremberg – GDPR- and BDSG-compliant, with a DPA for business customers. For tax advisors, law firms, schools and companies with works-council agreements, that's the difference between „probably fine" and „approved".
An independent EU provider instead of VC exit risk
The end of Clockwise shows the structural risk of VC-funded tools: at exit, the product can vanish overnight – for Clockwise, roughly one week passed between announcement and shutdown. Kalender Sync is an independent, bootstrapped German company with a business model that lives off the product – not off selling the team.
A permanently free plan, Basic from €4
One synchronisation is permanently free – no trial expiry, no credit card. Basic costs €4/month (5 accounts), Business €10/month (unlimited), and you can try all Business features free for 14 days.
