New: 18-month sync horizon, a prefix in your target calendar & gapless recurring events

Kalender Sync

Tool comparison

Kalender Sync vs. Morgen – all-in-one app or pure sync?

Morgen is one of the best calendar apps from Europe – a Swiss company with data in Switzerland and the EU, tasks and an AI planner included. We won't win a privacy duel here, and we're not claiming to. The real question is a different one: do you want a new calendar app – or just your existing calendars in sync?

Background

What can Morgen do?

Morgen is the calendar and planning app from Morgen AG in Zurich – available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and the web. It combines multiple accounts (Google, Outlook/M365, iCloud, Exchange, CalDAV) in one view, integrates task managers like Todoist, Notion or Linear, time-blocks tasks with an AI planner and offers scheduling links. For cross-account syncing there's „Calendar Propagation": a server-side workflow that writes events from one calendar into another as anonymous „Busy" blockers – once a day at 6 pm, 14 days ahead, one direction per workflow, for Google, Outlook, iCloud and Fastmail. The Pro plan costs $15/month billed annually ($30 monthly), with a 14-day trial.

Strengths

Where Morgen is strong

A strong all-in-one calendar app

Multi-account view on every platform including Linux, task integrations from Todoist to Linear, an AI planner and scheduling links – if you want calendar and tasks in a single app, Morgen offers one of the most complete packages on the market.

Privacy on equal footing – honestly

Morgen is a Swiss AG, hosts in Switzerland and the EU and doesn't persist your calendar data in the cloud – its servers act as a proxy. A GDPR argument against Morgen would be unfair – we play in the same league here.

A genuine server-side busy-blocker

Calendar Propagation runs on Morgen's servers and creates real blockers in the destination calendar – so it works even when the app isn't open. For the simple „personal blocks work" case, that's a solid automation.

Broad provider support in the view

Google, Outlook, iCloud, Exchange and CalDAV providers can all be combined in the app – for the pure calendar view, Morgen covers a lot of ground.

Where Kalender Sync wins

Where Kalender Sync wins

Real time instead of once a day at 6 pm

Morgen's Calendar Propagation runs on a daily schedule and blocks 14 days ahead – an event added this morning may only be blocked in your other calendar by the evening. Kalender Sync synchronises continuously in real time: new events, reschedules and cancellations show up everywhere immediately.

Two-way sync instead of one-way workflows

With Morgen, every propagation is a one-way street – for both directions you need two workflows. Kalender Sync is bidirectional by design: changes flow both ways, across all connected accounts.

Three visibility levels instead of anonymous blockers

Morgen's blockers appear as „Private Event (from Morgen)" – busy only, no details. Kalender Sync lets you choose per sync: „Busy" only, „Title + time" or full details – with freely configurable display names for blocked slots. Data minimisation is our default, not our only option.

Live-sharing into other people's calendars

Morgen shares availability via booking links and only writes blockers into your own accounts. Kalender Sync embeds your availability into another person's calendar by invitation – assistants, clients or partners see your slots directly in their own calendar, without Morgen or any other app.

€4 for the sync job instead of $15 for the whole app

Propagation is one of Morgen's paid automations – the Pro plan costs $15/month billed annually, $30 monthly. If synced calendars are all you actually want, you're paying for the app suite on top. Kalender Sync Basic costs €4/month, and one synchronisation is permanently free.

No app switch required – for you or the people around you

Morgen is an app you actively adopt as your calendar. Kalender Sync stays invisible: you keep working in Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar while the sync runs underneath – and Morgen's propagation targets (Google, Outlook, iCloud, Fastmail) are just a subset of our 8 supported provider types.

Decision guide

When should you pick which?

Morgen is the right choice if:

  • You want an all-in-one calendar app with tasks, an AI planner and scheduling links.
  • You're ready to move your daily calendar life into a new app – Linux included.
  • A daily, anonymous busy sync between your own accounts is enough for you.
  • You value Swiss data residency – which you get there just as you get EU hosting with us.

Kalender Sync is the right choice if:

  • You just want the sync – real-time, bidirectional, with no new app for you or your team.
  • You want to control per sync what's visible: „Busy" only, „Title + time" or full details, with custom display names.
  • You want to share your availability live into other people's calendars – not just block your own accounts.
  • You want the broadest provider coverage in this comparison: 9 provider types – Google, Microsoft Outlook/M365, Apple iCloud, GMX, WEB.DE, mailbox.org, Infomaniak kSuite, CalDAV and iCal feeds. Kalender Sync is the only tool in this comparison that connects the German providers GMX & WEB.DE.
  • You'd rather pay €4 than $15 for the sync job – with a permanently free plan and a German contractual partner including a DPA.
